Step 2 of 3 - Icon
Select an icon for the BlackBerry launcher (GIF or PNG format).
We have recently streamlined our process and no longer require individual icons for each type of BlackBerry device.
Please read and follow the directions below to make sure your icon image will look good on all BlackBerry devices.
The only required icon is the default icon. While the minimum image size for the default icon is 28 pixels wide by 28 pixels tall we recommend making the image 64 pixels wide by 64 pixels tall and with at least 4 to 8 pixels of empty buffer space on each side of the image.
An icon image that matches these specifications will scale quite nicely and look good on all the BlackBerry devices we support. Below is a sample image that matches the specifications outlined above. The entire image is 64 pixels wide by 64 pixels tall with a transparent background. The image of the Earth in the icon has 4 pixels of buffer space on each side, thus making the Earth in the image 56 pixels wide by 56 pixels tall. Please note that the black outline was added to show the outer edge of the image for demonstration purposes only.
Rollover icons are a second icon that is displayed when a BlackBerry application is highlighted on a device's screen. Rollover icons are not required and are purely optional. Rollover icons are only supported on BlackBerry devices running handheld software version 4.1 and higher.
If you specify a rollover icon then you will receive additional launcher files from us when your order is processed. We will include launcher installers for devices with handheld software versions below 4.1 and another for devices with versions 4.1 and up.

Step 3 of 3 - Vendor, Version & Launcher Installation File
Enter a vendor name that will appear as the name of the creator of the BlackBerry launcher.
Vendor *:
Enter a version number for the BlackBerry launcher.
Version *:
Enter a name for the launcher installer files.
File Name *:
The value entered above must be unique to your launcher because it will be used as the basis for naming the BlackBerry launcher files we will generate for you. Each launcher file name needs to be unique and distinct so generic names like "launcher" as discouraged. Based on the entered value we will generate files with names like MySiteLauncher.cod and MySiteLauncher.jad if you enter "MySiteLauncher".

Since this is for a file name and the BlackBerry compiler unfortunately has some issues with file names that contain non-English characters there are some restrictions:
Use only English alpha-numeric characters like a-z, A-Z and 0-9.
Do not include a file extension. We will automatically add them as we generate your files.

Once we generate your files and send you your completed order you can always opt to rename the files if you require non-English characters in the file names.

Title localization allows you to specify alternate titles for your BlackBerry browser launcher when it is used on BlackBerry devices that support different languages.
Here's an example:
Let's say your default title for your launcher is in English and is "My Site". To add localized titles for Dutch and Spanish you would:
  1. Select a locale from the Localization Locale drop down list.
  2. Enter the alternative title in the Localized Title field.
  3. Click the Add button.
For Dutch the localized title would be "Mijn Plaats".
For Spanish the localized title would be "Mi Sitio".
After adding a localized title it will appear in a table below the Add button. To delete a localized title just click the red "X" button next to the title.
As an extra feature, we support defining localized titles for national variations of a language. This way you can define alternate titles within the same language group to allow for alternate local spellings. For example, an English (United Kingdom) localized title might spell the word "Colour" with the letter "u" while the English (United States) localized title would be "Color".
Also note that if you specify a national variation of a localized title, for example let's use French (Canada), you must also specify a general localized title for the generic French locale that will be displayed to French speakers not in Canada.
Description localization allows you to specify alternate descriptions for your BlackBerry browser launcher when it is used on BlackBerry devices that support different languages.
Here's an example:

  1. Select a locale from the Localization Locale drop down list.
  2. Enter the alternative description in the Localized Description field.
  3. Click the Add button.
For Dutch the localized description would be "Mijn Lanceerinrichting van de Plaats".
For Spanish the localized description would be "Mi Lanzador del Sitio".
After adding a localized description it will appear in a table below the Add button. To delete a localized description just click the red "X" button next to the description.

The version number must be a decimal seperated sequence of numbers like:

  • 1.0
  • 1.1.8
  • 0.9
Due to the requirements of version numbering in BlackBerry applications, numbers can not start with a decimal point, so a version number of .7 must be entered as 0.7.

Version numbers that are all zeros are also not valid version numbers.
